Membership Benefits

As a Southern Shores property owner, you are eligible to become a part of the Southern Shores Civic Association (SSCA). Your SSCA membership is vital to our community. Membership dues and member volunteers contribute directly to the appearance, availability, and enjoyment of the beach crossovers, parks and marinas in our community!

The SSCA owns and maintains the following properties, and your membership gives you access to:

  • All 33 beach access walkways and dune crossovers in Southern Shores.

  • The Hillcrest Drive beach parking area. The site has 2 showers, toilets, a gazebo, benches and a viewing platform. Beach and viewing platform are wheelchair accessible. A volleyball court has been constructed at this site, as well.

  • Three marinas: North Marina, South Marina & Loblolly Marina. There is a boat launch ramp at the North Marina off South Dogwood Trail, as well as a pavilion for parties and events. We also offer wet and dry slips for SSCA boat owners, as well as kayak storage. (Boat Club membership required)

  • Soundview Park on North Dogwood Trail includes a children’s playground, picnic tables, charcoal grill, bocce ball court, horseshoe pit, park benches, a kayak launching platform and a relaxing sandy beach.

  • Sunset Platform on North Dogwood Trail includes a seating area overlooking a sandy beach, a great spot for sunset viewings!

  • Hillcrest Tennis Courts (at Hillcrest Drive near Sea Oats Trail). (Requires Tennis Club Membership)

  • Sea Oats Park (corner of Sea Oats and Hickory Trails). Sea Oats Park provides a basketball half court with one hoop, children’s play area, soccer field and picnic tables.

  • And many other SSCA natural open green spaces!

Membership in the SSCA provides members the opportunity to join the Tennis Club and the Boat Club. Both offer a variety of special events and opportunities to enjoy their facilities and socialize with fellow Southern Shores residents and visitors. You don’t need to own a boat to be a Boat Club member and enjoy the monthly GAMs, which includes breakfast, and interesting and informative presentations from a wide variety of people and organizations. The Boat Club also sponsors an annual oyster roast, Christmas Boat Parade, and other fun events held at the North Marina Pavilion.

SSCA dues are $65 for residents and second home owners, and $95 for rental property owners, annually. A great value for your money! Boat Club and Tennis Club memberships are an additional $25 each. Volunteers help with the maintenance of our marinas and crossovers, and play a large role in helping to keep our costs down, so we encourage you to consider participating in these activities. Apply and pay your membership dues online via this website, or print a membership application to mail into our office with your check. You will be provided with two window decals and two guest passes which allows use of all SSCA parking lots.
