Our Guest Speaker – Tama Creef, OBX Historian (retired):  

Tama Creef grew up in the mountains of Virginia surrounded by history and folklore. After graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree in Art History (and later a master’s in Public Administration), she began a career in non-traditional education which ultimately led her to the Outer Banks History Center in Manteo which is part of the state archives. She recently retired after 15 years processing collections and learning about the fascinating history of the Outer Banks. She currently lives on Roanoke Island with her husband, dog "Pretty Girl” and Amazon parrot "Staunton”.

 What She will talk about:  

The presentation: “Look, it’s a Bird, it’s a Plane, it’s Francis Rogallo!” will take a look at the life and accomplishments of the man who took a piece of cloth and revolutionized recreational flight.  One of his inventions is the fixed wing kite used at Jockey Ridge
